WMEI - the WEST MICHIGAN ENTERTAINMENT INITIATIVE - The Initiative
A plan for building a sustainable entertainment community utilizing positive business relationships, transparency and audience participation.
Transition creates Opportunity
Are you tired of the "entertainment" coming from Hollywood and wish there was a way to make better movies?
Are you concerned about friends or family who may have to leave Michigan simply to pursue their career ambitions?
Would you like to see more prosperity and a higher overall standard of living that comes from developing a new industry in the area?
Would you rather not have any of those "weirdos" from Hollywood come to your town on a fly by night production, disrupting your neighborhood on a random weekend?
The West Michigan Entertainment Initiative is designed to address each of these concerns with an active approach towards supporting the local community and promoting the state at an international level.

The City is the Studio
The Initiative is designed to encourage participation and support from any individuals or organizations that not only may have an interest in making movies but would also naturally have a stronger interest in ways to further their own ambitions.
Whether it's one of the concerns listed above, or something as practical as promoting their own business, the Initiative presents a multi-staged series of events specifically intended to encourage cross promotional opportunities including sponsorships, live events and even sales & merchandising opportunities.
It is an open secret that Hollywood in its current form is unsustainable. Much like what Seattle accomplished for the music scene in the 90s, Grand Rapids has a very real opportunity to claim its space in the independent movie market right now.
More than Beer and Hospitals
Grand Rapids has so much potential for development in every aspect of the entertainment industry, from direct service professionals to ancillary and tangential businesses such as tourism, IT support and accounting.
The intention of the Initiative is to demonstrate each and every one of these potential opportunities in practice, proving the entertainment industry can be viable, profitable, and beneficial to the community as a whole when treated with the professionalism necessary to run any business successfully. It does not require any form of tax incentive.
Based on proof of performance, the expectation is that this method of developing and promoting local talent as well as the state will be functionally sustainable for a minimum of 5-10 years, allowing for adaptation to suit tech advancements & audience response.

Complete Business Plan, including profit sharing opportunities at every stage of the Initiative, available for those Individuals and Organizations which have a sincere interest in Investment, Sponsorship, Advertisement and Cross-Promotional or other Marketing opportunities.
